Surprise Growth, 6x6in. Oil on linen/panel (small oil painting)

The following reflection is attached to the back of the painting on laminated card stock.

Surprise Growth

Zinnias delight with their vibrant blooms and ornate looking petals. Butterflies flock to them daily, adding to their allure. Gifted from my dad, they have grown to great heights. Even dad has been surprised at the extent of their growth.

A garden is a magical place, where moments in time are filled with the hum of nature. Bees buzzing, butterflies appearing and the sound of gentle rustles soothe the soul. These are the moments to cherish, where one is totally present without the distractions of life.

My dad is a master gardener who continues to take great pleasure in gardening at 86 yrs. old. He begins almost all of his plants from seeds in his shop and greenhouse. We always joke stating that dad has at least two green thumbs! The last couple of years I have been following and documenting his journey on Instagram and in a blog. I have learned so much and gained many gardening tips working with dad in this manner. You can find our Instagram account here and blog here.
