Final Debut

“With its intricate layers and vibrant hue, a crimson rose makes its final debut.”

Debbie Lamey-MacDonald

Just before Valentine’s Day, my husband came home with a few red roses; knowing that they are my favorite flower. I rescued this one just before its demise and decided to paint it from life.

Off I went to my studio, rose in hand, to immortalize it in paint. I carefully positioned it at my still life station turned on a spotlight and voila it made its final debut!

I loved painting this velvety rose from life. I always find them quite fascinating with all their intricate layers. Life is about seizing the moment before it slips away.

Soon we will see more vibrant blooms as Spring arrives. On my walk today I saw the first sign of Spring–Pussy  Willows–another one of my favorite Spring arrivals. What is your favorite flower? I would love to know. Do you have a special memory relating to flowers?

Wishing you blooms of happiness this new season!

Warmly,

Debbie

P.S. I apologize for my absence from my blog. About a month ago I developed eye floaters quite suddenly in my left eye. I was relieved to hear it wasn’t anything serious and the health of my eye was fine. However, they definitely threw me out of my game for awhile. Although I have a pretty healthy lifestyle, I began to research how to eliminate my floaters and add more healthy regimens. I found some great information and am now enjoying green smoothies due to my research. I may write a blog post in the future about the homeopathic remedies and other things I am trying to diminish them. Maybe the information will help someone else . My floaters are fading and I hope they will be completely eliminated soon. Keep your fingers crossed! Definitely a wake up call —our vision is soooo precious and being an artist this was an experience that left an impression!

I love the way you find beauty in a single object, very Zen. I’m so glad you are feeling better Deb!
