Patchwork of Light

I have always been intrigued with the drama of filtering light in the forest. It’s somewhat like nature’s patchwork quilt of light and shadow. As I drove past this spot, it suddenly engaged my senses! Yes, this is the “little escape” I will grow attune to this morning.

There seemed to be a ready made pathway leading upward into the forest. It beckoned to be explored and welcomed one to nature’s humble abode. This little pathway of light and shadow was so alluring, I had to test it out; take a stroll just to see if nature had something to offer.

Of course, she always does, with her open space and freedom of thought she reaches into the crevices of our minds. Life is always about choices. Our intuitive nature is always present to guide our directions. The trick of course is to negate all the extraneous information and lures. Taking time to listen and feel what really is our unique pathway.

Thanks Brenda and Heidi! I loved painting Patchwork of Light. This spot is no longer present as the whole area was brush cut. I almost missed finding this spot when I was out scouting for a place to paint that morning!

      Hi Julie!

Thanks so much for visiting and your kind words! Such a neat perspective to step in and run through the trees! The woods really do have such a carefree feel don’t they? I love going into the woods to paint; it is so freeing!

This one is just so beautiful ! You know , there are so many places such as this here on my island . The entire region is just mountains and forests and sea . It very much resembles Scotland a great deal . ( I live & was born on a small Island in Greece . The same island where King Leonidas of Sparta & his 299 warriors gave the greatest battle in history .) I would like to send you a picture of a tree in winter’s snow which I captured last winter :) I think you would like it very much .

I’m so happy that I came down this path, the light refelecting off the trees, the path calling to me, the shadows playing in the breeze..and I’m so happy that you found it and immortalized it forever.
you have such a way with light and shadow
