A New Season Begins
Although the sun projects warmth today, the wind is brisk. It rustles the new foliage and grasses surrounding the century home. The home’s vacancy sings of solitude only to be disturbed by the occasional seasonal visitor. There is a maturity about the land that envelops the surrounding space. Trees and shrubs that have existed for many years display their grandeur in size and floral presentation. Large lilac brushes have remained undisturbed and amply present their endowment of large cream and mauve spirals. They envelop the old home adding protection and mystic. One wonders about the days that existed within the home and the day that the lilac bushes began their seasonal journey. Their strength has enabled them to weather the storms of life. Similarly, faith allows us to weather the gusts in life. It steadies our belief that hope will carry us through into brighter tomorrows.

I love this piece Debbie. Your description of the old house is spot on too. Charming!

It is not only your paintings which transport the visitor , but your descriptive & eloquent form of writing . You are not only a great artist , but a prolific writer as well . You have the ability to transport someone ” into ” your painting simply by ‘mere words ‘ – so much so, that even if one were visually impaired – the way in which you describe the ” scene ” would enable one to literally ” LIVE ” it ! BRAVA to you !
Debbie, this is beautiful. I’ve always loved, worked on and have been drawn to paintings/drawings/photographs of houses….this is a gorgeous piece! I love it!!
