Crossing Over

“Crossing Over to the land of simple play and laughter.”

Debbie Lamey-MacDonald

Working on this miniature painting  brought back fond childhood memories. I loved coloring and remember the joy I had when my mom would come home with a new box of 64 crayola crayons! Oh the joy and thrill of scanning all those colors and imagining the creations I would make with them. With such an array of  colors I was thrilled to discover that I could use varied shades of one color to create depth even in my coloring books.

Marbles also helped my friends and I while away the time. We loved twirling round and round to make earth pots to shoot them in. Playing marbles was an art that our youth today seem to have missed. Not only were they fun to play with, but they were delightful to study as well. Looking into the depths of those glassy balls caused our imaginations to soar.

I hope my new painting “Crossing Over” brings back fond memories and makes you smile today! Here is a quote I found I thought you would enjoy!

“We could learn a lot from crayons; some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, while others bright, some have weird names, but they all have learned to live together in the same box.”
Robert Fulghum

“Crossing Over” sold quickly (before I could post it online), to a friend and loyal collector who purchased it as a gift. Miniatures make unique and wonderfully personalized gifts. Better than buying at big box stores!

Warmly,

Debbie

Love it! Shannon and I played with marbles too. I wonder if children today enjoy the simple pleasure of playing marbles?

Thanks Cheryl! I bet you and Shannon had a lot of fun playing marbles together! I teach young children and I’m afraid I don’t see any marble playing going on anymore–maybe someone should revive this art!

Hi Debbie, What a great combination. And congrats to you for selling it so quickly. I want to pick up the pink crayon and draw a flower with it. It is such a pretty pink! The reflections are amazing. I agree, handmade is WAY better than the big box stores!

Big waves and Hi Cheryl! So great to see you here again! I love your description of taking the crayon and drawing a flower with it. We had so much fun with our crayolas! I love pink too. Handmade is so much more personal–thanks so much for your kind words. xx
